The Thursday Morning Session Update

Last night saw the completion of vocal tracks for the electric portion of the new Cool Animal Ed disc. We also fooled around with some circa 1970's synth for the now "magnum opus" that is Mine All Mine.

Work is scheduled to continue this weekend as we track the base of the last three tracks. To spice things up a bit, these tunes will be primarily acoustic.

Sessions Continue - Vocals and Harp

The Cool Animal Ed sessions continued last night with the addition of primary vocals and harp. There’s nothing like sitting one foot in front of your singer while he’s belting it out. It was a good night with a valuable lesson. That being, neither I nor Rick will drink blended scotch. But it does work great to disinfect your harmonica.

Cool Animal Ed Sessions Begin

Cool Animal Ed began work on our second album this past weekend. After a fun Saturday morning of tracking drums and guitar, we’ve got the base of seven songs down. We plan on adding a few more songs as well as some few surprises. Vocal, bass and overdub tracking starts this week.

We’ve opted to take a slower, more “artsy”, approach with this release to take the music in a different direction that we are able to do live. As a perfect example, our traditional closer “Mine All Mine” clocks in at just over seven minutes. There’s some drumming in there that I don’t even believe, and I watched it unfold.

More on the sessions they occur.

The 8 Has Arrived

After months of waiting, my guitar has arrived. A gorgeous instrument from finish to sound. I'll be woodshedding for awhile but am planning to take it out with Ableton Live providing percussion in the early spring.
